We have made it to Pisco-San Andres. This is a community of fisherman. The ocean has been too rough for them to go fishing. They are poor and this time without work is very hard on them. Please pray for calm seas and good catch. I am praying that God will open doors for us as he answers the prayers of his people. God has protected us. The transportation strike couldn´t stop us God is FOR US!!!!! Pastor Rick

From Peru Missionary Rick Heilman: The youth group from Calvary Chapel Melbourne has come to Peru and the first week we have spent in San Andres. We have seen God do some incredible things while we have been here. We had an out reach in El Parque del Arte y Cultura yesterday that over 500 childten and adults participated in. We spent the morning inviting people and they came. We had puppets, dramas, music and as always we shared with them the Word of God.
In the evening we showed the movie The Hope. Most of the people who attended were not members of the church and many gave their lives to Christ. One guy named Hector came and spoke with me after I preached in the park. We talked for a while he was confused and at one time had been a Jehova´s Witness. He came to the movie and afterwards Prayed with me and Craig Tippie.
Today we went to another part of town that has no churches just lota and lots of people. We thought God was going to open the door for us to go in the high school but instead he brought the school to us. After the school director told us we could not have access we went to a nearby park and the gym class came out the to play soceer. We peformed our drama and shared with the kids and many of them prayed to recieve Christ including their teacher. It looks like another fertile field for Pastor Marco to follow up at.
We retuen to Lima tomorrow and will do ministry in the northern part of Lima next week.
Attention PARENTS of 412 missions team: your kids are amazing! I am blown away at how well they are doing. Everyone is healthy and strong! We are Unified and God is Glorified...they will have alot more time to call you this weekend. Thanks for the great job you have done in raising these guys...This is a honor for me. Matt H
July 13 Everything is great here. We have a big day tomorrow. Work day, childrens ministry stuff, and Hope Movie outreach at night. Keep us in your prayers. It should be amazing. God is Good!
July 14 An update from our Peru Missionary Rick Heilman: We had a big ministry filled day today. We started at 8am and I just got home before midnight, but what a day. The main part of the team went to Ventanilla a very poor area on the northern side of Lima. We mainly worked in Pachacutec. We totally transformed the church facility there, The local government has given the Calvary Chapel there in Pachacutec a large building for free with a two year lease. They received the building because they are having such an impact in this poor community. Most of the streets are dusty dirt roads. There is no running water or sewage. A truck comes by once a day and fills up containers with water to use in the facility. The whole area is beyond description. The team painted and cleaned the whole facility and then in the evening we showed the Hope movie to a standing room only audience. The students ministered to about 200 of the "wildest children" (according to Matt Helmintoler) he has ever seen. Many people prayed to receive Christ after the movie. I shared the gospel message. When I stood at the end of the movie, I expected the lights to come on. There were no lights so I stood in the light from the projector. I saw this jammed packed room of people who spoke no English and my translator was no where to be seen. I called and no answer. I saw another Gringa there and asked her if she could translate for me and God moved in spite of us.
In the morning when the team headed out to Ventanilla, I took 4 people from the Melbourne team to ICPNA. The room was packed with people. Everyone was talking like crazy in the room and I heard people sharing their testimony and the Gospel there. It was so cool. I had two guys pay for the English Camp and several sign up. There were a lot of people who said they wanted to come to church on Sunday.
What a good day but I need some rest. I get to sleep in tomorrow at least 8am. Tomorrow we go to San Juan de Luricancho for more of the same evangelism, invitaions to the movie, children's ministry, and the Hope Movie. Thursday it is off to Lurin. Please pray for us. Pray we don't grow weary in doing good.
God is good and it is so good to serve Him.
July 15 We had another long day in San Juan. We left at 9:30am and traveled about an hour to reach the soccer field/basketball court that was the center for all our activity today. We started the day climbing up the mountains around the court to pass out tracts and invitations to the Kids Festival and the Hope movie in the evening. Several people conquered fears of heights to get to the houses we went to visit. Next we began to clean up the trash in the park. Peruvians don't think littering is wrong so there is always a lot of trash all over the parks. The people have a hard time understanding why we would clean up there neighborhood and it gives us an opportunity to share Christ's love for them.
We had a great chicken and rice lunch and then had a the kids festival. There were a lot of kids there, but what I noticed was all the people all over the mountain watching. They were on roof tops, in window sills, dancing on the sidewalks, They were listening to the music and watching the dramas. We painted faces and ministered to a lot of people. Then we set up for The Hope movie.
The court was full of people however mostly were kids. We did not have a location to minister to the kids separately from the adults. For most of the movie the kids sat and watched the movie quietly. The people were intently watching but there were spiritual battles going on. One Battle Matt and Craig were watching a group of boys trying to distract their friend. Matt and Craig stopped them. The young boy watched the rest of the movie without his friends and without distractions and he gave his life to the Lord tonight. A lot of adults gave their lives to the Lord tonight. We were blessed to be a part of what God is doing in the largest borough of Lima. There are over 1 million people living in San Juan and we had an opportunity to touch lives there forever and who knows what God will do with just one of those new brother and sisters in Christ. - Rick Heilman
